With this centralised approach to computing, only minimal amounts of data – keystrokes, mouse clicks and screen refreshes – travel between the server and the client device thus reducing the need for high bandwidth and enabling the user to enjoy consistently high performance from wherever they are – even over dial-up or wireless connections. Applications and information will still appear on desktops or laptops as before, and users will experience the same look and feel of their desktop and application interface, yet all of the processing in done on the central server.

With Access Essentials you do updates once, centrally. That means everyone immediately has access to the new version. Because the applications execute on the main server, not on each user’s computer, you don’t have to worry about expensive user hardware upgrades. A simple device can be as effective as a full-featured desktop.

Built around an operating system you can rely on

As the most reliable network operating system Microsoft has ever produced, Windows Server 2003 provides you with a working environment you can depend on. Already embedded in the Windows Server 2003 operating system is Windows Terminal Server – a facility that allows multiple users to access a server’s desktop concurrently as well as allowing applications to use client or server resources, such as folders and printers. However, to use the features of Windows TS service, you would need to purchase a separate TS CAL license per named user or per device. Access Essentials already includes the prerequisite number of Terminal Server Client Access Licenses (TS CALs), giving you all the essential access tools you need in one solution to make your business productive.
